As the pandemic shows few signs of stopping, things have changed either permanently or for quite some time. If spring 2019 saw one kratom bill after another, 2020 has been considerably more silent. Lockdowns and social distancing have slowed legislative processes down. Kratom advocacy is no longer the same, yet kratom legality is not safe from the pandemic either.

So, how can you make sure that kratom remains legal, and you still get access to your favorite herb even after the pandemic is (hopefully) over? How can you contribute to KPCA bills passing and kratom ban bills not?

Let’s take a look at how you can remain or become a kratom advocate during the pandemic.

How to Continue Kratom Advocacy during the Coronavirus Pandemic

1. Take the Time to Educate Yourself

Reduced social interactions mean more time by yourself. So, if you have a with a little extra time on your hands, you can invest it in learning more about kratom, legalities, kratom advocacy, and other kratom related topics.

You can do so by following reputable kratom blogs as well as review the American Kratom Association’s advocacy toolkit, which includes ways of representing kratom as well as a variety of other sources such as studies.

2. Take the Time to Educate Others

Change can be made if we are in this together. So, it would benefit the kratom industry if you shared your knowledge on Mitragyna speciosa with others.

If you are hesitating to share that with your friends or family, consider joining online discussion forums and websites such as Quora or Reddit, where you can share your knowledge and experience answering relevant questions. You may even make some likeminded kratom-loving friends in the process.

3. Sign Kratom Petitions

Change.org is a popular site where kratom supporters have successfully gathered support on their petitions in favor of Mitragyna speciosa.

So, you could check if there are any active petitions which you can support. Once you sign one, make sure to share it with those whom you know it as well as on forums you are active on.

Then why not start your own? Especially if there are pending kratom ban bills in your state.

4. Support the Right Kratom Vendors

Countless businesses have ceased their operations due to the limitations imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic. While it’s an extremely sad reality, it may actually work in favor of the kratom industry since it can help weed out the bad players.

Plenty of negative information on kratom brings negative fame and endangers the legal status of Mitragyna speciosa in the country. Each instance of fake, contaminated, or adulteration kratom reaching buyers and the news gives extra ammunition to those who want kratom banned.

So, it’s up to kratom supporters to decide which vendors will be able to weather the pandemic. By not allocating any of the resources to the bad players, they would be forced to no longer proceed and scam kratom buyers.

Therefore, be especially cautious when buying kratom. When placing an order, ensure that the vendor is legitimate, transparent, charges fair prices, lab tests their kratom, has satisfied clients, and doesn’t spread misinformation about the herb.

By fair prices, we mean prices that are midrange. Vendors who offer prices that are too low may not be able to cover the potential losses which would result after importing contaminated or adulterated kratom. If that happens, we need to be certain now more than ever that such kratom gets discarded rather than sold for lower prices.

5. Support the American Kratom Association

If you are able to, consider making a donation to the AKA. It is a nonprofit organization that lobbies the Kratom Consumer Protection Act to individual states. It has accomplished that states like Nevada have passed he KCPA, several bills are active, and a dozen more are under consideration.

Supporting the AKA financially can help it resume its operations as soon as possible after the pandemic, ensuring that kratom regulation becomes mandatory in as many states as possible. You can donate to the AKA here.
