Located right by the base of the Rocky Mountains, the City of Colorado Springs is popular with tourists. It’s an excellent location for those who are looking for scenic trails, parks, and rock formations.
Colorado claims to have invented the cheeseburger and is the only state to have ever turned down the Olympics.
Let’s take a look and where Colorado stands with kratom.
Is Kratom Legal in Colorado?
Kratom is legal in the state of Colorado except for the towns of Parker and Monument. Moreover, in 2017, the City of Denver has restricted the use of kratom for human consumption. It is still legal to sell and possess it as long as it’s labeled accordingly and no advice on its use is given.
In November 2017, the Denver Department of Public Health and Environment restricted the distribution and possession of kratom for human consumption within Denver City. They state the deaths (wrongfully) associated with kratom as the reason for that.
As a result, kratom packages need to be labeled accordingly. They must state that kratom is not intended for human consumption. They also must list the potential dangers associated with kratom use. Sadly though, this text likens kratom to drugs and alcohol.
Under these restrictions, kratom retailers also must not provide any advice or recommendations on kratom use.
In early 2018, the Libertarian Party of Colorado publicly criticized the government for these restrictions and spoke in favor of the herb.
Castle Rock, a municipality within the Denver metropolitan area halfway between Denver and Colorado Springs, also decided to reevaluate its stance on kratom. In late 2018, it imposed a temporary ban on legalizing any new kratom businesses. It intended to last for six months until the Castle Rock authorities made a decision on whether kratom would remain legal in this Colorado town.
In June 2019, Castle Rock town council announced its decision. Kratom remains legal for anyone over the age of 18.
On October 7, 2019, the town of Parker became the first location in Colorado to ban kratom sales. The Parker Town Council justified their decision by siding with the FDA and referred to Mayo Clinic and the poison center complaints about kratom as proof for their decision.
A month later, the town of Monument banned the retail sales of kratom.
Where to Buy Kratom in Colorado?
Kratom is available in smoke, vape, herb and head shops in some of the largest cities in Colorado.
Nonetheless, we recommend that you carefully choose where you buy kratom. It will affect the quality and purity of the product that you get. And it will also ensure that kratom reputation does not get tarnished by vendors who follow controversial practices.
We consider that the safest option is to buy kratom online from vendors whom you can trust. Choose kratom vendors that lab-test each batch and discard any low-quality or contaminated product.
